Social Justice Development

Growing in Mission and Ministry - social justice

One of the ‘Five Marks of Mission’ for the Church is ‘To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation’.  (You can read more of the ‘Five Marks of Mission'  here).

These marks of Mission were instituted into our diocesan canons in 2015 and thus growing in our understanding and practice of social justice is an important part of our discipleship understanding here at St. John’s.

Our social justice development team and members are working on developing this ministry among us.

In early November, the SJE community is planning a “blanket exercise’. This interactive workshop helps participants explore the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples within Canada. It will be a meaningful opportunity to learn together about the consequences of colonisation on the land we share.

There are other exciting ideas in the works, so stay tuned for further announcements and activities. A book discussion group will be starting up in November to discuss the topic of anti-racism. Reach out to the email below if you are interested.
